Shark Fin Soup

A BIG NO NO for me...
I think I made friends at my table uneasy during a dinner. It was very hard for me to explain why I don't eat shark fin while you guys were enjoying the meal.
I apologize for what I did... I'm terribly sorry you guys.
I hope this video can help me explain the reason why...

I hope you guys will join me in this fight.

Remember, when the buying stops, the killing can too!

Kiss the Rain

and I mean that... literally...

Past 2 weeks had been burning hot. If you stay outside, still quite okay with all the breeze & air circulation and all. But, if you stay inside your house with no aircond... gosh... I was almost cooked (what an expression :P)

When it started to rain last night, I was so grateful that I texted my good friends. I was out at that time... when it's time to get out of the car, I took the chance to feel the rain on my face :)

Some of my friends said this is only 'panas dunia'... that's true. If I already complained this heat, how can I even begin to imagine the heat of hell. Na'uzubillah...

My friend Ayien said, this kind of heat makes her scared thinking of global warming.

I hardly stand this heat... I definitely don't want it to get any hotter.

What can I do to slow down or stop global warming? I don't use aircond at home, I try to reduce the usage of plastic products, I hardly drive my car, I very seldom use aerosol, I definitely don't use fertilizer, I don't happily keep the refrigator door open... I try to be as environmental friendly as possible...

But, is it possible for just one person to help the world?

I think so... If each and everyone of us think and act responsibly, we can all make this earth a better place.

Try as much as we can. There are a lot of guides on how to do things the environmental friendly way. We have to do this for ourselves...

A Question on Theory of Human Evolution

I received an email from my friend on Darwin's theory of human evolution. The email is quite funny. It started with a picture of a monkey and ended with picture of Andy Lau sitting nicely on a leather chair. If you look at the illustration, you can see the resemblance...

People are getting too creative these days... Keep it cool Andy :)

Anyway... I never bought the human evolution theory. There are a lot of questions... I found the theory unacceptable. But most importantly, I just cannot accept that human species originated from monkeys.

A question that keeps on lingering on my mind... If human species actually evolved from monkeys... then what the 'tuttttt' are the monkeys still doing here on earth?

Should we start observing the monkeys and see whether they'll evolve into human in the future?

p/s: I have another question on Neil Armstrong 'moonwalking'. But it's actually the same questions that people have been wondering about all over the world.

A Self Contemplation

My colleague Derek, has been diagnosed with dengue fever, after being sick for a couple of weeks & MC for a 5-6 days... If I'm not mistaken... I wonder why the diagnosis took so long... hmmm... We are all so worry for him.

Anyway, he was admitted to SJMC last Tuesday. I heard a not so good news yesterday. Haemorraghic dengue... that's bad :(

Today, the hospital calls for platlets donor. Male donors. A lot of male colleagues came to the rescue :) This is when the not so macho look so macho, the uncool looks so cool. There is a hero in each and everyone of them...

This is one of the times when I contemplate on my life. What kind of impact I have on the people around me. If lets say (God forbid), I need such donation, platlets or blood or anything like that... how many will come to my rescue? hmmm...

Our life is truly a reflection of who we are, isn't it? We know how we want our life to be but... what have we done to make sure our life go the way that we hope for?

Treat others the way you want to be treated. The old sayings got it accurate...

Live a good & healthy life everyone!

Ebiet G Ade - Berita Kepada Kawan

Perjalanan ini terasa sangat menyedihkan
sayang engkau tak duduk di sampingku kawan
banyak cerita yang mestinya kau saksikan
di tanah kering berbatuan

Tubuhku terguncang dihempas batu jalanan
hati tergetar menambah kering rerumputan
perjalanan ini seperti jadi saksi
gembala kecil menangis sedih

Kawan coba dengar apa jawabnya
ketika kutanya mengapa
bapa ibunya telah lama mati
ditelan bencana tanah ini

sesampainya di laut kukhabarkan semuanya
kepada karang kepada ombak kepada matahari
tetapi semua diam tetapi semua bisu
tinggal aku sendiri terpaku menatap langit

Barangkali di sana jawabnya
mengapa di tanahku terjadi bencana
mungkin Tuhan mulai bosan melihat tingkah kita
yang selalu salah dan bangga dengan dosa-dosa
atau alam mulai enggan bersahabat dengan kita
coba kita bertanya pada rumpun yang bergoyang

Joey Mcintyre - Stay The Same

Don't you ever wish you were someone else,

You were meant to be the way you are exactly.
Don't you ever say you don't like the way you are. When you learn to love yourself, youre better off by far.
And I hope you always stay the same, cuz theres nothin' 'bout you I would change.

Verse
I think that you could be whatever you wanted to be
If you could realize, all the dreams you have inside.
Don't be afraid if you've got something to say,
Just open up your heart and let it show you the way.

Chorus

Bridge
Believe in yourself.
Reach down inside.
The love you find will set you free.
Believe in yourself, you will come alive.
Have faith in what you do.
You'll make it through.

Ronan Keating - When You Say Nothing At All

It's amazing how you can speak right to my heart
Without saying a word, you can light up the dark
Try as I may, I could never explain
What I hear when, You don't say a thing

[CHORUS:]
The smile on your face
Lets me know that you need me
There's a truth in your eyes
Saying you'll never leave me
The touch of your hand says
You'll catch me whenever I fall
You say it best,
When you say nothing at all

All day long I can hear people talking out loud
But when you hold me near, you drown out the crowd
Try as they may, they could never define
What's been said
Between your heart and mine

The smile on your face
The truth in your eyes
The touch of your hand
Let's me know
That you need me

[Repeat chorus]

(You say it best
When you say
Nothing at all
You say it best
When you say
Nothing at all)

The smile on your face
The truth in your eyes
The touch of your hand
Let's me know
That you need me

Heartiest Congratulations TOMOK!!!

Oopppsssiieeee... I just have to comment on 'One in A Million 3'. Basically because I owe Tomok an apology.

Sorry dik... all this while I've been calling you 'Tompok'... I did that only because I cannot tahan with New Boyz jiwang songs and your crazy teenager fans.

But, honestly I'm impressed with 'Tomok' now. He gave great performances during OIAM. When Paul Moss & Shafinaz voted him as the top 3, I have no objection at all. None.

I knew about the OIAM 3 result only this morning because I didn't watch OIAM last night. I searched for the video in youtube. Congrats dik... I got goosebumps listening to your performance.

Actually, the other two... Esther & Aweera are also very good performers.
No doubt. (so is Amelia... too bad she's not in the final..) But maybe Tomok won because everybody saw how he changed and improved himself. How he managed to slipped away from the image that we've always known. It's quite impressive. Plus... he already have existing fans... and a lot of new ones :)

So, I wish Tomok all the best in his career. I hope Tomok will maintain his OIAM identity instead of the New Boyz's. He looks like an international artist during OIAM.

Adik Tomok, keep up the good work, try to find good songs that you can sing and express from the heart... it's better if you can compose the songs yourself. Don't lose yourself & the good image. I'm pretty sure you can win international listeners and fans... (fuh, I'm quite confident aren't I? ahak ahak...)

So... enjoy the no longer 'Tompok'... TOMOK!!!!

Thoughts on Labor Day

Hi... I'm working today. Not really working... just sitting in the office, waiting if any issue comes up :) A lot of free time today... a lot of thoughts...

Anyway... I have one thought that has been lingering on my mind. Actually not originally my thought. It was voiced out by my Opah's sister (which makes her my Opah as well).

You know what Opah is, don't you? It means grandmother. It's a Perak slang.

Anyway... what my Opah worrily said was --> 'Nowadays, everyone wants to be a singer'

At the time, I didn't really understand her worry or concern. I was like, 'Oh, a'ah kan?'

But, almost a year has passed since that night. Now I'm finally starting to understand. Watching tv with its reality shows... One in a Million, My Starz LG, Mentor, Bintang RTM, Akademi Fantasia, Gangstarz... etc (I'm sure I missed a few others)...

Now I know what my Opah meant. Too many people wants to be in entertainment and too many people willing to provide the opportunities because too many people love it and too much money will come out of it.

Isn't this worrying? Hmmmm... my Opah was right to start being worried... to her, it's too much 'dunia'.

I'm pretty sure stopping all this or slowing it down would be a very difficult task. Reason is, when there is demand, someone will take the opportunity to provide supply. And the truth is, I also enjoy a bit of entertainment... *sigh* quite a dilemma :)

Perhaps, what we can do is... I don't know... maybe come out with a reality show with more intellect in it. See how much response we can get from Malaysians. This way, we will be able to see that Malaysian's are not all about entertainment.

How about a reality show like... Malaysia's Next Neuro Surgeon.

Will this show become the next hit?

I know it will.

Happy Labor Day everyone. Enjoy your freetime as I'm enjoying mine :)

Take care!
