Don't Quit

The last verse is like a mantra that keeps playing in my head whenever I feel like quitting. This has been with me since I was in high school but I still don't know who is the original author.

****
When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all up hill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.

 Life is strange with its twists and turns,
As everyone of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure comes about
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don't give up though the pace seems slow,
You may succeed with another blow.

 Success is failure turned inside out,
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell just how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit,
It's when things seem worst that you must not quit.

Ben Affleck R.E.S.P.E.C.T!

I read this post on 9gag last night and my first thought was... Wow! Ben Affleck! Wow!

Finally, someone said something that has to be said.

R.E.S.P.E.C.T!

You can search for the debate on YouTube --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vln9D81eO60

Listening to the interview, I feel offended.  Especially when 'It's the only religion that acts like a MAFIA' was said. The woohooooo and the clapping from the audience was like adding salt on a wound.

I am offended. Deeply Offended.

Honestly, the 'ISLAM' that they discussed is NOT the Islam that I know.

The ISLAM that I know is peaceful, is fair and definitely does not oppress women.

Just look at me and all my female Muslim friends. We are smart & educated, we have careers, we wear hijab without it ever limit the things that we can do, the married ones are not abused by their husbands, the married ones even helped with the family economy, we have our freedom. I am free to travel even on my own without anyone ever holding me back. We can do everything we want and we also know how to protect our honour and always behave like a muslimah.

Obviously, I cannot deny the fact that there are Muslims who are extremists and the reason behind all these generalization on ISLAM... and on Muslims.

I admit that there are also Muslims who are unfair, who are always in rage, who oppress women, who are extremists, who are terrorists etc etc... But, are these behaviour limited to Muslims only? I don't think so.

Except for that terrorist part; lately I feel like for someone to be called a terrorist, that someone must be a Muslim. Otherwise, that someone will only be called a shooter or a hijacker.. something like that. You get the idea right?

The truth is, ISLAM is the one being oppressed right now.

So, I thank you Ben Affleck for keeping an open mind and giving ISLAM a chance of getting a defense in the western world.
