And when I think I have had enough
Help me to see things
through another's eyes.
Grant me tolerance
for different views,
For those with whom
I don't always agree.
Just when I start
to argue or accuse,
Help me to know
the wrong one might be me.
Grant me sympathy
and understanding
When others come to me
in need of caring;
Instead of disapproving
and demanding,
Help me to be
compassionate and sharing.
Grant me humbleness
when I am proud,
Swift guidance when
I start to go astray,
The strength to rise
above the madding crowd,
And merciful forgiveness
when I pray.
