My besties & I joined The Fabulous KL foodhunt last Saturday. It was fun to run around Kuala Lumpur, finding food to eat. I was lucky enough to get to eat a delicious Nasi Kukus Ayam Dara at Taman Melati. The dish was so yummy, I was sad that I had to eat it during a competition *sigh*.
Anyway, I actually want to share some beautiful photos of Kuala Lumpur that I captured on that day. KL was really beautiful since the early light until the late evening. I'm so glad that I was outside enjoying the beauty of it all...
Haze has subsided & the rain has become a frequent visitor this time of year... The sky is now cleared, the colour so blue not grey, it's mesmerizing. The sun can be stinging hot just before the cooling rain...

Everyone in the team, the goalie who reminds me of Oliver Kahn, the defenders, led by the captain were impenetrable, the swift and skillful midfielders and forwards. Together they made the team strong, sturdy and unbeatable.
You guys really kicked a**es this year :)

Ramlee Awang Murshid has done it again with a book that is hard to put down and I finished reading it in one weekend!
Although for me, 'Cinta Sang Ratu' is still the best in the series, 'Sunan Nanggroe Sang Kembara' also has a kick to it. It shows us how Sunan become the man that he is.. the challenges that he faced and how he overcame it. As usual... he's so cool, calm & collected about everything.
But, in this book, he's not The Man... Wali Sufi IS the man :)
What am I babbling about? Just go get the book & read it.
P/S: I wish for this book to be translated into all languages so I can share this Sunan madness with the world!
I just want to share my about favourite host. Habib Muhammad as-Saggaf hafizahullah is the host of program 'Fattabiouni' which aired before Maghrib everyday at TV Al-Hijrah. If you're like me, who would always missed this program, you can subscribe to 'Fattabiouni Malaysia's channel' on YouTube. The programmes are totally awesome :)

... 'Big Miracle' is based on a very inspiring true story that happened back in 1988. 'There is always something that we can do'. That is so true!
... 'The Hunter' is based on a novel set in Tasmania, Australia. Wonderful landscapes... A movie that sparked my curiosity. But, a little sad.

By the way, I've watched the show with Jake Gyllenhaal. Not as fun as the one with Will Ferrell, but I do notice something... their characters. I remember thinking, 'Wow, no wonder they are successful'. The way they face challenges... calm & calculated. Sure that was just a show, but still...

Let me tell you the story of me and this book. I first saw this book at a warehouse book sale near my home about 20 years ago. That time the price was only MYR8.00. The first time I read the synopsis, it was really intriguing. I want it, I want it! But still I didn't buy it. Then, school holiday was over and I had to go off to school. Somehow, this book kept lingering on my mind. I can't get it off of me. So, I called my best friend, Ms. F & asked her to help me buy it. I don't think she even remembers that she helped to buy this book for me... heheheeee...
I read this book at least 5 times end to end (at least) if I remember correctly. If I hadn't lost my copy, I could have read it even more. I didn't actually lost it. I lent it to someone and that someone still haven't returned it to me. The problem is, I don't remember who was that someone! Arrrgggghhhhh... I love the old copy even though it was really worn out, the paper was already so soft and the cover was almost torn out. This book is the type of book that I would keep under my pillow, to keep me company.
Ever since I lost this book, I tried high & low to find a new copy. Everywhere I go, every bookstore I've been to... I couldn't find it. I found a copy online, but it is not the same... I just have to have the hardcopy!
But now... I'm a happy blogger! I've found a new copy of my beloved read... *skipping*

Isabella is a daughter of a high Catholic priest in Spain. This book is the story of her struggle in finding Islam. In this book, there are a lot of religious debate between Muslims & Christians scholars, discussions and arguments about the differences of the two religions.

This book is a really interesting book for me because I learned quite a lot about Islam & Christian from it. My advice to all who wants to read this book, please keep an open mind. The information that we gathered from this book, is for us to check, confirm and verify. Finding the truth is never easy.
To those who are already in love with Saifuddin a.k.a Laksamana Sunan, you're going to love Umar Lahmi. He's not a tough warrior like Laksamana Sunan, but he is a scholar and he is very smart. There's a saying that 'a pen is mightier than a sword'. So... they are both equally attractive... heheheeee...

But, I fell in love with him. It's impossible not to.
Saifuddin, respectfully known as 'Laksamana Sunan' is a great man. He's only a character in Ramlee Awang Murshid's 'Bagaikan Puteri' trilogy. I'm aware of the fact that he's only alive in those stories and wishing that he's real is like 'in your dreams'. Well... I'll be very happy to see him in my dreams if I did :) He's gentle, he's kind & sweet, he's 'alim', he's patient, he's strong, he has a tough & good heart, he's a romantic and he's good looking... in one word, 'perfect'... senang cerita *wink*
Above all... he's a man... he's the man... huhuhuuuuu...
Anyway... snapping out of fantasy world... what I really want to write is about Ramlee Awang Murshid's trilogy. They call it 'Bagaikan Puteri' trilogy, but I'd rather call it 'Laksamana Sunan' trilogy because it's a story about this great man.
I love these books so much that I finished reading all three within 3 weeks. I managed to find reading times in between my busy schedule, on a crowded train, on my flight to Korea, during my alone time in Seoul, before bedtime... all the timeeeeee... I finished reading 'Cinta Sang Ratu' in one weekend... I love the 2nd book so much!
To be honest, I hardly read books written by Malay novelist. Mostly because it's hard for me to find a good book or the good ones are too much of a literature for me. Everytime I go to the Malay novel racks at the bookstore, I wish to find storybooks that are as entertaining as 'Up & Down in the Dales' by Gervase Phinn, or twisted like 'Kane & Abel' by Jeffrey Archer, or puzzling like 'The Da Vinci Code' by Dan Brown or sweet and innocent like my all time favorite 'Anne of Green Gables' by L.M Montgomery. I can't remember any Malay storybook that I really love except... Nisah Haron's short stories when I was in secondary school. She rocked with 'Atlantis, Duniaku DuniaMu', 'Disebalik Wajahmu Aries', 'Annyss Sophilea' & one more that I can't remember the title.
But, Ramlee Awang Murshid has proven to me that Malay novelist can level with western novelists. Browsing through book racks full of Malay romance novels, I really felt discouraged. I need to slip away from the real world, to find ideas, something different, something 'outside of the box' and entertaining... I'm glad I found this trilogy. Although, I don't really like the 3rd book. But the 2nd one... so good... huhuhuhuuuuu... I should have picked up these books when I started seeing them the first time.
What I like about this story? Laksamana Sunan of course... and Sang Ratu. The novels flow smoothly even though it jumps from one century to another, each time changing the storyline, but still connected. It is so cool. Ramlee Awang Murshid must have a very clear idea of what he wanted to write when he wrote these novels. These novels are full of time travels, demons and devils, werewolves, rotten-hearted humans and of course... love. But not a mushy mushy kind of love. A real love... logical, practical... loyal...
The best thing is, these novels keep on reminding the readers that there is no power greater than ALLAH, that everything happened with a 'hikmah' behind it... it keeps reminding the readers to be patience, tawakal and always keep a good heart. 'Laksamana Sunan' and 'Sang Ratu' characters remind me to become a better muslim...
What a good way of da'wah...
So, if you haven't read this trilogy... you better :) This trilogy is a good piece of work and officially makes me a big fan of Ramlee Awang Murshid.

I just watched 'Star Trek' the movie for the 5th time since I bought the DVD. I watched the movie first at the cinema, but somehow still couldn't get enough of it. It's so good and somehow believable :) The universe, the spaceship, the warp theory (I likeeee...), time travel, the technologies, the charismatic leaders, the fun characters, the special effects, the acting, the directing, the ADVENTURES... woooooo!
While I was watching the movie over and over again, I started thinking 'Wow, this Spock guy is quite good looking, even with pointy ears and a weird face'. Of course Captain George Kirk is still the handsomest (is there such a word?), but for an alien, Spock is quite a catch. No?
Then my thoughts drifted to a question. Why is it that aliens always weird looking?
Sorry, correction... Why is it that aliens invented by human are always naturally weird looking? Are we that vain? Aliens can be good looking too right?
But then again, I'm writing from a human perspective. Those aliens might think that we are the weird looking ones.
I remember one night during university time, I had a conversation with a friend, Mc Ha about the tv series, 'Battlestar Gallactica'. While looking up to the stars we wondered 'What are aliens really like?'. Are they really fierce, ferociuos, always looking to attack us and UGLY? We both agreed to disagree to those questions.
For all we know, they could be just like us... and perhaps that night, they were also looking up to their skies and wondering what those two aliens on planet earth were doing? hihihiiii...
That was a fun imagination.
Anyway... before this wishful thinking saying nite nite, I would like to see an alien movie

Perpetuum Jazzilee is a jazz choir from Slovenia. You should listen to them coz they are great. They have great range of voices and great arrangements. Great performance!
The two guys on the left of the front row are really cute. Especially the one with the yellow scarf. Wat up with those dimples? (lalalalaaaaa...) And those guys on the right amaze me, they make musical instruments sounds... My favourite of all is the guy who looks like he's playing a drum. Wow!
I hope they'll come to Malaysia... I'll definitely go to see their performance... hopefully the ticket price won't be too expensive.

Well, this came up from watching too much of Navy NCIS.
I love the show so much... it reminds me of the times of 'Macgyver' and 'The A Team'. You know... shows with smart, funny, cute & charming people (men...). They are always optimistic, willing to help and always figured out a way to overcome obstacles. There are no problem, just challenges...
Anyway, today's entry is nothing important really.
I just want to express my Navy NCIS related wish.
Bring back Special Agent Paula Cassidy to Navy NCIS!
They already killed Special Agent Caitlin Todd a.k.a Kate. Then, they killed Special Agent Paula Cassidy. I'm not happy! I miss those two! I can't hope that they bring back 'Kate'. They killed her by putting a bullet through her head... if they brought her back, it would be so ridiculous... not to forget scary... eeee...
But then, they haven't brought Paula Cassidy back to the show. I'm pretty sure her character is still alive somewhere in the script. We didn't get to see her dead body after the explosion behind a wall in season 4. I have yet to see the episode in season 6 where her picture is hung on wall of 'The Fallen'... we're still in season 5 here. Come on... the writers can be creative right? Hopefully they'll find a way to bring her back.
Paula Cassidy will make a very good addition to Gibbs's team and an excellent 'partner' for DiNozzo. She's the only one who can get to him and he cared so much for her... well, I think they cared so much for each other... *wink wink*

Last weekend, I spent my unproductive 3 days weekend on a movie marathon. So now, I've officially watched all the movies that were based on Jane Austen's novel. Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, Emma, Mansfield Park, Persuasion and Northanger Abbey.
I found the storyline are almost the same. Rich handsome guys from a wealthy background, an average looking girl from an average family. Except for in 'Persuasion', but in the end the Frederick Wentworth did become very rich. I found all the males characters in Miss Jane Austen's novels are attractive and irresistable, especially Mr. Knightley who is ever so dreamy.
I enjoyed all the movies very much, but in the end I'm left to wonder about the influence of MONEY in a relationship.
Apparently money has become a great influence in relationships at least from the 19th century. No matter how much we try to avoid it, we still cannot deny it's importance. But I'm not in the mood to discuss about that right now. Just please don't make silly decisions in your relationships when $$$ is in question.

I'm listening to Hindi song right now. Chand Sifarish, OST of Fanaa. One of my favourite Hindi movie. But I think this is the best Hindi movie ever. The storyline, especially the love story is closest to reality. Aamir Khan gave an outstanding act and Kajol is as excellent as ever. Even though the ending is not the happy ending you always expected from Hindi movies, the ending is very much satisfactory. Makes you wonder what would you do when choosing the lesser of two evils.
Make sure you catch the videos of Chand Sifarish and Mere Haath Mein.
Last night I watched 'Qaisy & Laila' at RTM1. I love it! I wished I had watched it at the cinema and now I'm thinking of buying the VCD. I'm not sure where I was when 'Qaisy & Laila' went to the cinema in 2005. Where was I?
Anyway, I'm glad that Habsah Hassan decided to produced this movie despite the setbacks. Apparently her movie is as good as her song lyrics. I'm also glad that they casted Jehan Miskin and Fazura as the main roles. You guys did it beautifully... really reminds me of the chemistry between Azmil Mustapha and Ogy Ahmad Daud ;) Umie Aida and Radhi Khalid also did really well. I love you guys! This movie has given me hope that one day Malaysian movies will be acknowledged internationally.
Can't wait to watch another Habsah Hassan's movie...
I watched Brokeback Mountain and to my surprise, I love it. To be honest, I always avoid homosexual related thingy. It's just yikes!!! However, who can refrain the attraction of two hot actors? I'm telling you, Jake Gyllenhaal and Heath Ledger are just gorgoues. Seeing them in Brokeback Mountain, I'm having a hard time choosing... hehehheeeee...
I love Brokeback Mountain. Ang Lee has made me feel not so yikes!!! about gay relationship. The actors are so talented that they made me accept that 'Love is a force of nature'. The scenery & cinematography so wonderful that made me imagine myself herding sheeps together with Jack Twist and Ennis Del Mar. I can smell the grasses, I can touch the flowers, I can feel the wind on my face, I can feel the cold water of the river... I can even hear the bluebird sings. In fact I'm'standing' on Brokeback Mountain while I'm writing this. I love this story so much, that I watched it again & again.
Then today I read a heading in a newspaper that Jake Gyllenhaal and Ang Lee are given some kind of awards for human rights. What kind of human rights award, I wonder. Is it the award for acknowledging homosexuals?
This is like a wake up call to me.
I have to apologize. No matter how many times I tell myself, I cannot bring myself to support this 'kind' of human right. It's just not right and it's against my religious belief.
So, bravo to Brokeback Mountain. Bravo to Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal for your outstanding performance. But I hope there will be no more movies like this.
To Jake Gyllehaal, I really really hope that you'll get the Academy. You deserve it.
